Local & Regional Plans
Madera County Workforce develops local and regional plans that guide workforce priorities, funding decisions, and program implementation. These plans are created in alignment with state and federal requirements and reflect the needs of employers, job seekers, and the regional economy.
Madera County Local Workforce Plan
The Local Workforce Plan outlines workforce development strategies, including employment training and supportive services for residents throughout Madera County. The plan summarizes administration, program budgets, program goals, and service strategies for the stated period. The Local Strategic Workforce Plan aligns with the State of California Workforce Development Board’s Strategic State Plan for California’s Workforce Investment system.

Regional Workforce Plan
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014 (WIOA) mandates regional workforce planning as does the State of California. The San Joaquin and Associated Counties Regional Plan covers ten counties via eight local Workforce Development Boards (Fresno, Inyo, Kern, Kings, Madera, Merced, Mono, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Tulare).

Workforce Data
Workforce Development Board staff specializing in Labor Market Information collect, analyze, disseminate, and publish information about Madera County’s labor market. In addition to employment data, staff provides economic planning information, industry and occupational information, social and demographic information, and a variety of other statistics.

Madera County is centrally located in California’s San Joaquin Valley, bordered on the north by Mariposa and Merced, by Fresno to the south and by Mono County to the east. Madera County’s diverse geography has resulted in distinct economies and labor markets, with the agriculture and manufacturing sectors predominantly on the valley floor, while the tourism and service sectors lead in the eastern area of the County. The diverse labor market, geography, and population, along with relatively low land and housing costs, have resulted in Madera County enjoying one of the fastest growth rates in the State of California.
EDD’s Labor Market Information Division (LMID) is the official source for California Labor Market Information. The LMID promotes California’s economic health by providing information to help people understand California’s economy and make informed labor market choices. They collect, analyze, and publish statistics and reports on California’s labor force, industries, occupations, employment projections, wages and other important labor market and economic data.
