“I am grateful for Madera County Workforce for the opportunity to sponsor me in my training. Their help was essential in taking the next steps into a rewarding career.”

Erick’s story is about starting over and not giving up. He worked at ZNDUS as a Material Handler, but then he lost his job. He was worried, but wanted to keep moving forward.

The Employment Development Department (EDD) told him about the Madera Workforce Assistance Center. There, he talked to a specialist who listened and explained the training programs he could join.

With help from his case manager Andrea, Erick learned how to get support for his training. Soon, he got his permit and decided to become a truck driver.

Erick went to the Central Valley Opportunity Center (CVOC) for training. The teachers there helped him learn new skills and get his CDL Class A License.

Now, Erick works at Richie Iest Farms Inc. in Madera, CA. He is a heavy equipment operator and makes $23 per hour. The Madera County Workforce program made it possible for him to start a new and better career.
